Véréna Paravel (born 21 April in Neuchâtel, Switzerland) is a French anthropologist and artist who works in film, video, and photography.
Biography
Verena Paravel was born in [1] She is an anthropologist, artist and filmmaker who works in the Sensory Ethnography Lab at Harvard University in Cambridge, USA, and in Paris, France.
Her work is in the permanent collection of New York's Museum of Modern Art, and has been exhibited at the Tate, the Whitney Biennial, MoMA, documenta 14 and elsewhere. Her award-winning films and videos have been exhibited at Berlin, Cannes, Locarno, New York, Toronto, Venice and various other film festivals.
Paravel collaborates with anthropologist and artist Lucien Castaing-Taylor in film, video, and installation. The film was shot on a trawler and it used only sounds and images taken on board.[1] Their film Leviathan was released theatrically in the United States,
