Its publisher won’t reveal the author behind He Who Dares… but they say the book has the full support of the estate of Only Fools And Horses creator John Sullivan.

It marries the events of classic BBC TV series Only Fools And Horses with its prequel Rock & Chips, also penned by Sullivan, which aired in 2010.

While it followed the fortunes of Del Boy the younger, the focus was on his mother Joan and her relationship with Freddie “the Frog” Robdal.

The dramedy was panned by critics for lacking the charm of the original series and not giving Del Boy enough screen time.

However, He Who Dares… succeeds where Rock & Chips failed, neatly uniting both aspects of Trotter history but telling the story from the perspective of Del Boy. He Who Dares… is written in Del Boy’s rich south London vernacular complete with cockney rhyming slang and plenty of “bonjours” in his stabs at sophistication.
